Start a conversation
For developing students, engineers, leads, managers, and directors.
What this is for
- Challenges with tech, design, or production
- Navigating expectations, feedback, and hard conversations
- Growth planning: skills, scope, influence
- Role transitions - “I just became a lead… now what?”
- Paths to excel and ways to nudge your teams along with you
- Resume and interview preparation
How to prepare
To get the most out of our time, it helps if you write about things beforehand. Consider:
- Where are you now? How do you feel?
- What are the issues? What are your hopes?
- Does it make sense to share a link or write up to ahead of time? I may be able to arrive better prepared.
- What do you want to leave with? Good meetings usually open with a clear concept of - How we'll know we're "done".
You'll tend to get out of this what you put into it. I can't really do things for you.
Please bring a little energy and open curiosity. Questions welcome!
What to expect
- A new perspective - and probably a new concept
- The ball firmly in your court - Perhaps just a first step, but practical action you can begin
- About 40 minutes - We can roll through or schedule again if it feels useful
- Warm - I’ll meet you where you are
- Honest - Some words can scare us, but I always strive for kindness first
What this is not
- Not therapy
I'll happily listen and offer learned perspective on anything, but I'm not your therapist - Not legal advice
I can share experience, but I'm not your lawyer - Not a guarantee of job placement
I'm glad to work through opportunities that arise, but I can't promise outcome - Not a long-term commitment
You're always welcome back, but I can't guarantee ongoing time or priority - Not a place to break NDA
I treat our conversations as confidential and won’t share what we discuss
If your workplace requires a formal NDA, we can handle that through consulting
